Well, that backfired.
Raul Rosas Jr. scored his third UFC win last night (Sat., June 8, 2024) when he strangled Ricky Turcios with a rear-naked choke from inside KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky (watch highlights). The 19-year-old scored a $50,000 Performance of the Night.
The fight was absolutely fantastic, filled with insane grappling exchanges. However, eagle-eyed fans noticed some heat leading into the fight, as Turcios refused to touch Rosas Jr.’s glove and instead screamed, “F—k you,” and threw a head kick.
Checkout the clip from the start of the fight below:
The 31-year-old was extremely mad at Rosas Jr. because their fight was canceled in Feb.. Turcios felt Rosas Jr. “broke the Bushidō code” because the 19-year-old could not fight and pulled out of their scheduled bout.
Ultimately, Turcios’ plan backfired completely, as Rosas Jr. tapped him out in the second round.
Rosas Jr. improves to 3-1 in UFC with three submission wins. He wants to return at UFC 306, which will occur in the Las Vegas Sphere.
