Sean Strickland says new UFC gloves ‘absolutely suck’ and were made by f***ing dorks’… before taking aim at ‘leprechaun’ Conor McGregor

Former middleweight champion Sean Strickland had plenty to get off his chest at the UFC 302 media day on Wednesday.

Strickland faces Paulo Costa in New Jersey on Saturday night in what will be his first fight since losing the title to Dricus du Plessis.

And the American was asked about a variety of topics with reporters knowing full well that he is never one to shy away from giving his opinion. 

The new UFC gloves will be used for the first time this weekend and Strickland is not a fan.

‘They suck,’ he said. ‘Can we talk to the person who designed these gloves?

‘Have you ever been in a fight in your f***ing life? It’s like you get these f***ing dorks that have no idea. 

‘Like, this sounds like a good idea and they make it. Same thing with motorcycles. I’ve bought motorcycles and they put so much stupid sh*t on it. How did you a**holes think this was a good idea?

‘So no, they absolutely suck. You dropped the ball on that one.’

The new design is supposed to counter issues such as eye pokes but Strickland believes this was never a glove issue. 

‘What was the reasoning? They wanted to make it so that people stop poking people in the eyes? Well, they’re a little bit more stitched,’ Strickland said. 

‘And, dude, at the end of the day, people f***ing get poked in the eyes because they open their f*cking hands. Unless you put a boxing glove on, that sh*t’s not gonna stop.

‘It’s just people creating a problem that we did not have. If you get cut because you get hit in the f***ing head, don’t get hit in the f*cking head, you don’t get cut. 

‘You get poked in the eyes because you f***ing open your hands. Don’t open your hands, you won’t get poked in the eyes. It’s just people creating problems that aren’t there.’

And Strickland kept the same energy when the subject of the returning Conor McGregor was brought up.

When Strickland was told about a recent online study that placed him behind ‘The Notorious’ on a list of the most attractive men in MMA, Strickland let McGregor have it.

‘Conor?’ Strickland said. ‘No, that f*cking little leprechaun? That motherf*cker looks like he’s putting his head under f*cking urinals, my man, no f*cking way.’
