Seahawks WR Left Practice With Injury Today

The Seattle Seahawks are hoping to get back on track this coming season after they missed the playoffs last year by a hair.

They had surprisingly reached the postseason in 2022 after trading franchise quarterback Russell Wilson, as Geno Smith, his replacement, shed his reputation as a career backup and made the Pro Bowl while leading the NFL in completion percentage.

As mandatory minicamps take place across the league, Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba left Wednesday’s session early because of a shoulder ailment, but the good news is, according to head coach Mike Macdonald, it isn’t a serious issue, per Around The NFL.

While DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett remain Seattle’s two biggest threats at the wide receiver position, Smith-Njigba has made a case that he deserves a significant piece of the Seahawks’ pie when it comes to their passing attack.

As a rookie in 2023, the first-round pick out of Ohio State caught 63 passes for 628 yards and four touchdowns.

In his sophomore season at Ohio State, Smith-Njigba set a school record with 1,606 receiving yards, and he set another record in the Rose Bowl that year with 347 receiving yards.

Unfortunately, he was limited to three games the following year because of a hamstring injury.

The Seahawks will need improved production from him in all likelihood, as a number of teams in the NFC have improved.

In particular, the Los Angeles Rams seem to be rising from the ashes after unexpectedly making the playoffs last year, while the Arizona Cardinals now have Marvin Harrison Jr., the No. 4 pick in this year’s draft who has been described as a generational wide receiver prospect.
