The football world is still talking about the humongous contract extension Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence recently secured that will pay him $275 million over five years.

It will make him the highest-paid player in the NFL in terms of annual salary along with Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals.

There are a few other star QBs around the league who are due for extensions, and ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said that Lawrence’s extension will help Jordan Love and Tua Tagovailoa secure huge bags of their own.

Love is perhaps the newest star signal-caller in the NFL after ending last season with a surge and leading a young Green Bay Packers team to the brink of an NFC Championship Game appearance.

Many are now high on the Packers’ immediate future this coming season, and some even feel they could become dark horse Super Bowl contenders.

Tagovailoa has been emerging over the last couple of years, and he has helped give the Miami Dolphins arguably the game’s most explosive offense.

Other QBs who will soon be getting extensions are Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers’ Brock Purdy.

Lawrence saw a small dip in his production last season, but in 2022, he played outstanding ball in November, December and January while leading Jacksonville to the divisional round of the playoffs.

Some have said he isn’t deserving of such a huge extension since he isn’t considered an elite or near-elite QB, but that is the reality of the NFL’s economic landscape right now.
