A gray cloud is hanging over the Dallas Cowboys these days despite the great talent they possess, as they have contract issues they have to address.

The biggest one is the fact that quarterback Dak Prescott is entering the final year of his contract, and if he doesn’t receive an extension soon enough, he will become a free agent next offseason.

Reports have indicated that the two sides aren’t close to an extension, but Jeremy Fowler said on ESPN’s “NFL Live” that the Cowboys are “all-in” on Prescott and implied that a deal will eventually get done, via NFL on ESPN.

Prescott had one of his best regular seasons ever in 2023, as he led the NFL with 36 passing touchdowns, and he was momentarily a front-running candidate for the MVP award.

He made the Pro Bowl for the third time, and he led Dallas to 12 regular-season wins for the third year in a row.

But as usual, Dallas lost early in the playoffs, this time in the Wild Card round to an upstart Green Bay Packers team, and it wasn’t even close.

Prescott has a habit of underperforming in the playoffs, which has led some to speculate that perhaps Jerry Jones is unsure if he wants his team to keep riding the Prescott train beyond this upcoming season.

The Cowboys also have to soon give out extensions to wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and pass rusher Micah Parsons, both of whom are among the very best players in football at their respective positions.

Will Jones be able to navigate the NFL’s hard salary cap in order to keep all three?
