Austria’s Felix Auboeck broke his own national record in the men’s 400 freestyle swimmgin a 3:43.24 to win the European Title on the final night of competition. Aubeock’s previous record stood at a 3:43.58 at the 2022 World Championships to finish 4th.

Auboeck was out faster today on his front half speed, flipping under World Record pace at the 200 mark in a 1:50.95. He fell off that pace soonafter but stayed ahead of his national record.
Auboeck also moves up in the World rankings this season. His previous best stood at a 3:45.53 from prelims of the 2024 World Championships. That previously had him ranked at #10 in the world.
He will look to make the podium next month in Paris after swimming a 3:44.07 for 4th place at the 2020(1) Tokyo Games. He then finished 4th at the 2022 World Championships, 8th at the 2023 World Championships, and 8th at the 2024 World Championships.
